Allo le monde,
Voici quelques points de fermeture de notre voyage à Margarita:
- People on the Island are very friendly, a bit reseved until spoken to
- The Island is pretty much a big desert, with some green mountains = nice
- Excellent coastal views all around, all different from one another
- Windy all the time during my stay
- El Agua is the nicest beach
- El Yaque is the funnest beach, and excellent windsurfing of course. Got to see Ricardo Campello in action!
- The Island tour we did with Marcos Tours (marcostours.com) is a must, and at the beginning of your trip. Ask him questions.
- Venezuelean women are very pretty, and all like to wear... well not much!
Things I will do next time there, and yes there will be:
- Visit Coche Island (shorth boat ride south of El Yaque)
- Visit Los Roques, money permitting
- Visit Canaima Park on the mainland, cash permitting
- Do much more windsurfing
All in all, the place grows on you. Expect a dry, rugged, and not always clean landscape. The water is not as nice as Cuba or Mexico but I still prefer it there. You seem more free and relax for some reason. We did the Last Minute All Inclusive formula and stayed at Hotel Portofino. $750 each taxes in buys you a week and that is cheap. We all had a really good time, weather can't be beat, price is cheap. What else can you ask for? Have questions? ask away, windsurfers and all.
Cheers,
Nic.
